On CH16 you hear:
"This is Falmouth Coastguard. For the Maritime Safety Information Broadcast, listen VHF channel 63. [pause] This is Falmouth Coastguard. For the Maritime Safety Information Broadcast, listen VHF channel 64. [pause] This is Falmouth Coastguard. For the Maritime Safety Information Broadcast, listen VHF channel 62".
What do you do?
There is ONE correct answer, worth 10 points.
That's incorrect.
Falmouth Coastguard announces the weather on a number of channels: normally you would pick whichever sounds the strongest. In our case, at the Lookout, this is now always CH62 (even if the announcement relating to other channels read loud and clear).
Until FCG reconfigured some of their transmitting aerials, we used to listen on CH64 but this is no longer the case. Always listen on CH62.
Do not flick between CH62 and CH64. We no longer hear transmissions on CH64 and you may well miss some of the broadcast if you are alternating between CH62 and CH64.
